This website is part of a research project through the SURE (Scholarly Undergraduate Research Experience) program at Colorado State University. Our goal is to create educational content multimedia resources that help engineers, students, and educators understand how transportation systems impact the environment, communities, and equity in our society. Transportation engineering is more than roads and traffic, it is about how people access jobs, clean air, and opportunities. This project explores how to design smarter, more responsible infrastructure that supports suitability and accessibility.

What is transportation engineering?

Transportation engineering focuses on the design, planning, and operation of systems that move people and goods. This incorporates everything from highways to buses to signals and sidewalks. But these systems don't just move our vehicles, they shape cities, influence public health, and impact the environment. Engineers today face the challenge of building transportation systems that are sustainable and equitable.

- Integrate all the concepts listed into transportation engineering curricula - Analyze real-word transportation impacts and equity in case studies - Encourage critcal thinking about infrastructure, climate, and ethics - Prepare future engineers to design systems that serve all communities
